The Power Within

Ancient Greek Wisdom for Modern Leaders. Published 18 November 2026.

The book

I left school in Merthyr Tydfil at sixteen, spent almost eleven years on the doors of South London nightclubs, then thirty years in boardrooms across Europe, Asia and Australasia. Along the way I noticed that the leaders who came undone almost always knew less about themselves than about their markets.

The Power Within sets the Greek myths, the oldest stories we have about ambition, pride, loss and judgement, beside real lives in leadership, my own included. It's about the interior work that comes before any framework. I wrote it for the leader who has achieved most of what they set out to, and still suspects something is missing.

What readers are saying

“This isn’t a book about mythology. It’s a mirror.”

“Most leadership books tell you what to do next. The Power Within asks a harder question: What’s already driving you? Keith places ancient Greek stories alongside real modern leaders, and the pattern is uncomfortable. Power, ego, fear, ambition: different centuries, same human wiring. As a master certified coach, I can tell you transformation never comes from more answers. It comes from better questions. This isn’t a book about mythology. It’s a mirror.”

Geraldine Gauthier MCC · Founder, GoMaster Coach

“Intellectually rigorous and deeply human.”

“As a business professor who has taught and engaged with senior executives for over thirty-five years, I found The Power Within a refreshing departure from conventional leadership models, grounding competencies like power and resilience in timeless myth. Keith’s pairing of mythological archetypes with real coaching stories is both intellectually rigorous and deeply human. A book for any leader ready to look inward before leading outward.”

Dr Prem Shamdasani · Associate Professor of Marketing and Academic Director, NUS Executive MBA, National University of Singapore Business School

“Who are you when you have it?”

“The Power Within asks a question most leadership books avoid: not what should you do with power, but who are you when you have it? Keith Power sets aside the usual territory of skills and behaviours and goes somewhere harder, into character. He does it by weaving Greek mythology through the candid, sometimes uncomfortable stories of real leaders. The result is a book that is both intellectually serious and genuinely honest; it does not flinch from failure or from the personal cost that leadership so often exacts. The book’s real argument is simple: the hardest leadership work happens inward.”

Grzegorz Janzen · CEO, Butan plin Slovenia

“Who you’ll have become when the room stops applauding.”

“Myths that have lasted three thousand years set against leaders honest enough to say what their hardest moment cost them, no frameworks to hide behind. Most leadership books tell you what to do. This one tells you who you’ll have become when the room stops applauding.”

Victor Cui · Entrepreneur and co-founder, ONE Championship

“A remarkable book by a remarkable man.”

“A remarkable book by a remarkable man. A fascinating account that shares unique perspectives on how to be a leader in business and life through the lens of Greek mythology.”
