Mental Health Awareness Month - A Note From a Coach

As an executive coach, I often work with leaders who seem calm and in control on the outside, but inside, they’re running on empty. They carry huge responsibilities, yet rarely stop to check in on themselves. As Mental Health Awareness Month draws to a close, it’s a good moment to pause and remember; resilience isn’t about pushing through. It’s about knowing when to breathe, reflect, and ask for support.

Many leaders feel they have to be the strong one; the fixer, the steady hand. But ignoring your own wellbeing doesn’t make you a better leader. In fact, the opposite is true. The best leaders I know are the ones who stay grounded, self-aware, and willing to talk about the tough stuff when it matters.

So today, ask yourself: “How am I - really?”

You don’t need to have all the answers. You just need to start the conversation - with yourself, and maybe with someone you trust. That’s not weakness. That’s leadership.
