When most people think of Bali, they picture beaches, yoga, and surfboards. But look closer and you’ll see something else taking shape: a thriving hub for entrepreneurs, startups, and digital nomads of all ages.
The 20-something laptop warriors may grab the headlines, but Bali is increasingly home to 30-40-year-old founders chasing scale, and even 50-something executives who have traded corporate boardrooms for co-working spaces under the palm trees. It’s not just young singles anymore. Families are making the move too, bringing children, setting down roots, and creating a new kind of community.
One shining example is the Bali Montessori School, which has become a melting pot of cultures and a genuine “one big happy family.” It’s proof that Bali isn’t just about lifestyle, it’s about building futures.
Of course, paradise isn’t perfect. Traffic can be horrendous. Fuel stations sometimes run dry. And the mosquitoes and tropical downpours in typhoon season are a constant reminder you’re living in the tropics. But for many, these are small trade-offs for something bigger: the chance to rebalance life without giving up on their business dreams.
I’ve seen this first-hand while staying at a friend’s villa who has relocated here from Singapore - seven bedrooms, sprawling grounds, koi ponds, and a swimming pool. The rent? Equivalent to a modest condo back in Singapore, but here it comes with housekeepers, gardeners, and security included. Their family’s relocation tells the bigger story: people aren’t just escaping, they’re reimagining how work and life can fit together.
From my perspective as an executive coach, Bali feels like an open invitation. It’s a place rich with potential guests for The Power Within podcast - leaders and dreamers reshaping their lives and careers in remarkable ways. For them, Bali is the stage for reinvention.
As for me? Let’s be clear, I’m not packing my bags just yet. But I can see why so many others are… 🏝️
